During excavation of foundation pits during construction of Vabaduse bridge across Emayigi river in Tartu, interesting archaeological findings were revealed dated by XIX century (axes, glass bottles, nails from previously existing wooden bridge). In addition, several German mines were found, which were preserved in soil after the Second World War.
Let us remind that in 2006, PLC Transmost was a winner of “idea” contest for bridge design in Tartu, devised detailed design and in 2007 Estonian division Tilts has launched bridge construction. PLC Transmost provides author’s supervision over construction. As of early December 2007, earthworks for arrangement of bored piles and concreting of support walls have been completed on the left bank and drilling works are close to completion on the right bank.
